tokens of remembrance is a new writing event focused on under-appreciated characters/types of story/themes in the kingdom hearts fandom! this year the theme of the event is the ladies of kingdom hearts. The event runs from the 24th May - 6th June!

any of the canon kh ladies (aqua/kairi/xion/naminé/larxene/skuld/etc)! we are trans!character, au and ship friendly but I would like this focused on the women of the series so please keep the focus on transfeminine characters and wlw/femslash ships. original kh characters and crossovers are also accepted!

I am living in japan right now and let me tell ya:
There are people here who can’t speak or understand English who play nothing but Missy elliot and ludacris, even in businesses like housing offices and restaurants.
There are people who have cowboy hats and dead cow skulls in their home because they idolize what they assume American homes are like.
There are people who learn English strictly through music videos and American television shows.
There are entire karaoke bars with english songs often sung by people who have no idea what the lyrics mean.
Japan often takes American shows like the powerpuff girls and make japanese versions of them.
They often mistake common Americans for celebrities. I have been mistaken for Micheal jordan, tiger woods, Shaquille o'neal, Tyler perry, and saddest of all: queen latifa.
The act of sprinkling English into your japanese sentences is considered cute and cool and is popular with teenagers. Bonus points if you happen to use it correctly.
Japanese stores sell shirts with english on them and people buy them not knowing that most of those word combinations are nonsense.
Don’t let someone shame you for singing an anime opening, using japanese in your sentences, wearing clothing with japanese on it, ect. If anything, this is just one more thing that you have in common with them.
The American/Japanese cultural exchange is so pure and wonderful and I love it so much

Using a computer, scientists at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History have created what they believe are the sounds of the Parasaurolophus, which roamed the earth more than 70 million years ago.
It took two years before the sound could be replicated by a museum palaeontologist and a scientist from the Sandia National Laboratories.
Here’s how they worked it out: Scientists took a three dimensional x-ray of a dinosaur skull which was unearthed in northwestern New Mexico.
Then, they fed data through their computer, and calculated how the sound waves may have bounced through the 4-foot (1.3 metre) crest rising from the back of the dinosaur’s head.
This reminds me of the time a paleontologist visited my elementary school (I think he was someone’s dad? I wish I remembered his name) and he gave us this long lecture about dinosaurs and birds and how they had to try to guess what they might’ve been like with very limited information.
Now, this lecture happened before the sound above was created by computers (I’m old), but that didn’t stop the paleontologist from showing us one of the things he’d been working on, based on fossil records. During his talk he pulled out this *massive* PVC pipe, artfully arranged to look like the Parasaurolophus’ crest. He’d attached a tuba mouthpiece to it and blew, blasting the cafeteria with a sound very much like the sound clip above.

I swear I lost like all my friendships bc of this, like I had a group of friends in hs that one day I realized “huh I haven’t talked to this people in a while” and popped in to say hi and they were all awkward?? because they hadn’t seen me in a while?? and that’s when I realized that friendship works different for them?? I was like yeah I haven’t talked to you in like four months but it’s not like I’ve forgotten about y'all why would anything change, and they were all like we haven’t talked to you in four months why are you here again acting like nothing happened? and it was really confusing for me

Also I have a thing where I just put the people on pause. If I don’t see them or contact them, my brain kinda put them in stasis. I don’t think about them nor misses them, and I stay on what I last knew about them (how they look, what they study/work). So when we meet again I’m like “wait, you’ve aged?” and I have the same familiarity with them thanI had before.
Anyway all my mutuals I haven’t messaged in forever - this is why
